I am a qualified Cricket Umpire at the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and currently serve as President of the Association of Cricket Umpires Karnataka (ACUK) — one of the largest cricket umpires' associations globally. Umpiring, for me, has never been a profession. It is a passion.
My journey began in the 1987–88 season, while I was in my third year of a Bachelor of Engineering degree. What started with club cricket for KSCA tournaments turned into nearly four decades of officiating — across every age category from Under-14 to Under-25, all five divisions of Bengaluru league cricket, zonal games, Ranji Trophy and IPL practice matches, and the Dr. K. Thimmapaiah Memorial inter-state tournament.
In 2012, the love for the game pulled me full-time into event management. My first multi-discipline tournament — cricket, badminton, basketball, tennis, table-tennis, chess, carrom — went live in early 2014. Since then, Pulse Event Management has delivered more than 100 major tournaments, several involving 40–50 teams each.
My approach stays the same whether the event is large, medium or small: calm under pressure, detail oriented, friendly and approachable, hands-on throughout — and above all, transparent and honest. That is the manthra.

Legends of Indian cricket — and a few surprises.
Over the decades, it has been a privilege to officiate matches featuring cricketers who went on to represent Karnataka and India — offering fine inputs and suggestions along the way.
A special mention — Indian football captain Sunil Chhetri, who keeps wickets for a IV Division side. I had the opportunity to officiate one of his matches at Rail Wheel Factory Ground in the 2023–24 season. His enthusiasm, discipline and professional approach were remarkable to watch.

While officiating a State League and IPL practice game featuring Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli, I saw how these legends prepare. For us, it is just a game. For them, every game is a serious game — from the moment it is notified.
They arrive well before other players, kits meticulously arranged. Diet, health, humbleness to know the playing conditions and technical parameters — every detail attended to. Wonderful to watch. I picked up a few tips from the gems of Indian cricket myself.
